A huge thank you to the Seafest Committiee who allowed us to have a booth on the beach this past weekend to raise awareness and funds for our playground! Over the weeekend we had many activities happening such as a beanbag toss, cotton candy sales, a 50/50 draw, raffle tickets, prints for sale and free gifts of reflective lights when a donation was made. The booth may have been small but it sure was busy!
Overall, a grand total made for the playground over the weekend was $1585.09! A great addition to our thermometer!
A list of thanks is necessary because without all the help, this past weekend wouldn't have been such a success! Thank you to all the volunteers who so generously donated their time to work at the booth, they are Tonya Lane, Chris Bull, Jackie Crisby, Mary-Jane Oldford, Audrey Moss, Abby Moss, Janna Orr, Laura Hapgood, Lynda Babstock and Leah Babstock. Thank you as well to Cindy Matchim and Nicole Brett for organizing the dunk tank on Saturday which was a great success. All proceeds made were donated to the playground. Nicole also helped out with the 50/50 draw on Friday night which also was a huge success. We raised $722.00 in two hours on Friday night and thanks to the generosity of Neville Morgan (whose winning ticket was drawn) we got to hold onto all the money collected because he choose to donate it all back to the playground! What a wonderful gesture, thank you so much Nev! Thank you also to the Fireman for allowing us to have the 50/50 draw in the beer tent on Friday night. A big thank you to Gerard Noseworthy who kindly donated $1.00 from every bag of cotton candy we sold over the weekend which he also supplied. Another thanks to G & R Contracting for donating some nice flashing lights for prizes and thank you gifts for any donations made over the weekend. Thank you to Grace Handcock for donating an Ugly Stick and Matthew Alcock from Troy's Carnival Surprises for donating the stuffed animal as part of the raffle. Winners for the raffle were Lori Squire- Digital Camera, Cayla Turner- Ugly Stick and Rhonda King-Stuffed Animal. Congratualtions and thanks for your support!
Overall, the weekend was great with the exception of being kind of rained out on Sunday but hey, it takes more than a little rain to get us off the beach! Before I forget, thanks to Sean Turner, Sandy Collins, Kim Powell, Chris Bull and Mike Coady for braving the cold water in the Dunk Tank. You were all great sports and your participation was greatly appreicated! I hope I didn't miss anyone but in case I did a huge thank to everyone for making Seafest weekend a great success for our playground! :-)
